CEC: Endometriosis Center

The Center for Complex Endometriosis (CEC)

The Center for Complex Endometriosis is dedicated to treating, supporting, and assisting women who suffer from various formsof complex endometriosis and require multidisciplinary surgical care. The CEC specializes in the management of rectal, sigmoid, urinary, and ovarianendometriosis cases where fertility preservation is necessary.

The surgical treatment of endometriosis is a major challenge, as this gynecological condition can lead to isolation in intimate relationships, within the family, in society, at work, and even at school for women who suffer from it.

Your Care Journey at the CEC

The surgical management of complex endometriosisrelies on a structured collaboration among multiple specialists who must work in a coordinated manner to tailor treatment to the complexity of each individual case. This is referred to as surgical management of last resort.

The CEC specializes in the surgical management of the most complex conditions(gastrointestinal, urological, diaphragmatic, and ovarian lesions) that require care in a multidisciplinary center combining expertise in surgery, medicine, pain management, and fertility preservation.

A chronic gynecological condition with far-reaching effects

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease that affects around one in ten women of childbearing age, and its incidence can rise to 50% in cases ofinfertility. It is characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the cavity of the uterus, leading to pelvic pain, fertility problems, urinary incontinence and even bleeding in the most severe cases.

This complex pelvic disorder can take many forms, and can have numerous disabling repercussions on women's health.

The main forms of endometriosis

Each type of pathology presents specific symptoms, making the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis particularly delicate. Appropriate management by a gynecology and/or endometriosis surgery service, and increased awareness, are therefore essential to improve the quality of life of affected women.

The Center for Complex Endometriosis is a leading center of excellence in the treatment of the four main forms of endometriosis:

Deep endometriosis

This is the most severe form of these four inflammatory gynecological conditions. Endometriotic tissue can deeply affect the affected organ, extending to the rectum, bladder, vagina, pelvic kidneys, or other abdominal structures.

Internal endometriosis

Commonly known as adenomyosis, it is characterized by the growth of endometrial tissue within the uterine muscle.

Ovarian endometriosis

Also known as an endometrioma, this complex form of endometriosis is characterized by the presence of blood-filled cysts within the ovaries.

Peritoneal endometriosis

In this situation, endometrial tissue attaches itself to the peritoneum, the thin layer of tissue that covers the pelvic organs, such as the bladder, rectum, and internal reproductive organs.

  • Your questions, our answers

Do you have questions about your situation, your treatment plan, or how your care is covered? This FAQ has been designed to provide clear answers and guide you through the process.

The CEC website is designed to inform patients about the endometriosis pathologies we treat and the specific features of our center. The excellence of our care offer is the result of over 20 years' experience in the use of the CO2 laser in laparoscopic surgery, the only one of its kind in France.

The information listed on the CEC digital platform is the fruit of our experience published in the scientific literature (series reviews and fundamental research) based on solid, reliable data.

The Complex Endometriosis Center follows the guidelines of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), published in February 2022.

Endometriosis is not just a physical pathology, it is often accompanied by emotional burden and psychological distress. Chronic pain, fertility difficulties, apprehension about gynaecological surgery and the impact on personal, family and professional life often lead to anxiety, stress and isolation.

Because every woman deserves to be heard, supported and accompanied in her fight against endometriosis, the CEC offers integrative care where the emotional dimension is just as essential as medical expertise.

Every woman is unique, as is her disease. The CEC offers care adapted to each type of endometriosis, taking into account individual needs and specificities.

The Endometriosis Complex Center is the promise of uncompromising expertise, from practitioners who are entirely focused on those who aspire to a better future and quality support throughout their lives.

There's so much information out there about everything to do with endometriosis that it's hard to know what's real and what's not.

The CEC and its entire medical team are committed to denouncing pseudo-expert practices that compromise women's health and distance themselves from self-proclaimed expertise. Medical and scientific ethics are at the heart of the Centre de l'Endométriose Complexe's preoccupations, and its primary concern is to approach this pathology with transparency towards the general public and patients.

In the field of gynecology and obstetrics, the Complex Endometriosis Center is recognized for its outstanding expertise in the treatment of endometriosis.
We are not just a medical center or a surgical department, but an institution whose internationally renowned specialists are unitedby a common mission: to provide women with endometriosis with comprehensive and holistic care.

Beyond medical and surgical treatments, the CEC advocates a humane, multidisciplinary approach.
The staff, from gynecologists and surgeons to department heads and nurses, as well as fertility and reproductive medicine specialists, are driven by a common, unwavering passion: to enable every woman facing the pathological consequences of endometriosis to regain a better quality of life and experience the miracle of procreation.

The CEC is the one and only endometriosis treatment center in France to master CO2 laser technology for laparoscopic surgery. This represents a revolution in the less invasive, more conservative surgical treatment of endometriosis, as it enables more targeted laparoscopic surgery with more optimal recovery.

The CEC's expertise is expressed in scientific publications, research results, bibliography and a strong desire to provide better support for patients suffering from endometriosis and the possibility of experiencing pregnancy.
