CEC: Endometriosis Center

Complex Endometriosis Center (CEC)

The center's mission is to care for, support and help women suffering from complex endometriosis. The CEC specializes in the management of rectal, sigmoidal, urinary and ovarian endometriosis with fertility preservation.

Successful management of endometriosis is a major challenge because this disease can cause intimacy, family, societal, professional, and even academic isolation for women suffering from it.

Endometriosis, a pathology with multiple implications!

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease that affects around one in ten women of childbearing age, and its incidence can rise to 50% in cases of infertility. It is characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity, leading to pelvic pain and fertility problems.

This complex condition takes many forms and has numerous disabling repercussions on women's health.

CEC represents a reference alternative in the treatment of the four main forms of endometriosis:

  • Deep Endometriosis This is the most severe form. Endometriotic tissue deeply infiltrates the affected organ, possibly affecting the rectum, bladder, vagina, pelvic nerves or other abdominal anatomical structures.
  • Internal endometriosis: Also known as adenomyosis, this is the growth of endometrial tissue inside the muscle of the uterus.
  • Ovarian endometriosis This form is characterized by the presence of blood-filled cysts, called endometriomas, within the ovaries.
  • Peritoneal endometriosis Endometriosis of the peritoneum: Here, endometriotic tissue is deposited on the peritoneum, the thin layer of tissue covering the pelvic organs.

Each type of pathology presents specific symptoms, making the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis particularly delicate. Appropriate management and increased awareness are therefore essential to improve the quality of life of women affected.

  • The Complex Endometriosis Center reaffirms its commitment to improving the day-to-day lives of women suffering from endometriosis, and one of its concrete actions is to raise awareness among local healthcare professionals, with the aim of advancing the diagnosis and appropriate care of patients.
